In a statement, Blue Angel Evans explained that her son "suffered severe damage to his brain as a result, which meant that he wasn’t strong enough to live on his own."
Blue Angel Evans, daughter of U2 guitarist The Edge, has spoken publicly for the first time about the loss of her nine-day-old infant son. Eight months have already passed since the tragic death of baby Senan O'Shaughnessy Evans.
Ms. Evans and her husband welcomed the birth of their son in July 2023, two weeks early. Having already experienced some complications at birth, the baby died just nine days later due to a knot in the umbilical cord and severe brain damage.
Following the birth, the family spent eight nights in the NICU and were brought to LauraLynn Hospice for Children, where Ms. Evans said Senan "passed away peacefully that same night, lying on my chest, warm and loved beyond measure."

On the occasion of the eight-month anniversary, the family shared some pictures of the baby as a newborn, on Ms. Evans social media. The photos were posted with a statement that says: "Posting about Senan has been a big decision, and one we haven’t taken lightly. But I have, what feels like, a primal urge to tell the whole world how beautiful and amazing our son was.
"He was absolutely perfect in every way and all I want is for him to be back in my arms. He brought, and continues to bring, so much love into our lives and we will always, always miss him," the statement continues.
The daughter of the U2 guitarist also thanked the staff at LauraLynn Children's Hospice and said it "is run by true angels."
"I cannot," she added, "express enough my gratitude for them and what they do and provide for families with children that have life-limiting conditions"
