Hands up who’s heard of Bianca Butthole? No, us neither. This is a shocking state of affairs as far as Duff McKagan is concerned.
“You don’t know her?” the Guns ‘N’ Roses legend rued last week when Caught In The Net ran into him. As you do. “Man, she was the business!”
Was sadly being the operative word. A member of McKagan’s fave hard rocking, hard drinking, hard loving, hard everything combo Betty Blowtorch, the singer and guitarist was killed in a car crash in 2001 shortly after her band had released their Are You Man Enough? opus.
Their three gloriously gonzoid years together are celebrated in Welcome Betty Blowtorch And Her Amazing True Life Adventures, an Anthony Scarpa-directed documentary that includes guest appearances by Duff and a seriously bemused looking Vanilla Ice.
Although yet to be released here – boo! – you can see clips at www.bettyblowtorch.com. And you’re right Duff, Ms. Butthole was the business.
From there it’s but a mere mouse-click to www.gigazine.net, a Japanese pop culture site which is all in foreign but has lots of lovely pictures to admire. While very taken with the wild killer shark who likes to have his tummy tickled by humans – they’re not all bad you know – and the ladder bicycle, the CIN fave is the candy David Beckham ‘Long Love’ condom.
We didn’t think anything could surplant the Landover Baptist Ministry in our satirical ecclesiastical website affections, but then we came across www.wittenburgdoor.com and, well, we’re feeling torn between two lovers. Having been warned that its contents are “not right for everyone, including those who may be pregnant with religiosity or thinking of becoming righteous”, we’re treated to the Top 5 rants from the deeply unlovable and all too real Texan preacher Kenneth Copeland – think Adolf Hitler but without the charm – and Pastor Eddie Long opining that words are God’s sperm.
Which just leaves time for quick visits to www.theinternetnowinhandybookform.com (the pi of Rick Astley and other silliness); www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovi-djkUgd0 (Predator rap); igrillwithgeorge.com/gipod200.html (the latest lean, mean grilling machine comes complete with splash-proof iPod dock and 10 watt speakers); and www.beaglesramsay.co.uk/blackpudding.html (human breakfast staples, anyone?).
