What do Ed Sheeran and Eminem have in common? Well, maybe a biopic if all goes as planned.
Sheeran expressed an interest in creating an autobiographical movie similar to Eminem’s 8 Mile. While 8 Mile chronicled the rapper’s gritty upbringing in Detroit, Sheeran’s potential film will probably have to take a slightly different approach, seeing how Sheeran spent his childhood in the idyllic English town of Ipswich. The singer remains unphased by the differences, telling Q, “I want to have an 8 Mile moment but 8 Mile meets Notting Hill. Not gritty like Detroit but, like, Ipswich. I’ve got loads of songs about Ipswich that haven’t come out so I could make a soundtrack.”
Previously, Sheeran has gone into a bit of detail about his ideas on the movie, saying, “I really want to make a film that I do the soundtrack for and star in – that’s my next thing. I look at a film like Notting Hill and I think that’s like a brilliant benchmark, or Once. So if you were to mix Notting Hill with Once, I would say that would be a good start. I don’t think I will do an album as a soundtrack, but I will definitely put together a soundtrack with a bunch of my songs on it, but I don’t think it will be an album.” Sheeran also added that he would want to cast all unknowns for his ideal “low-budget, indie, British-made film.”
So...a mix of Once, Notting Hill, and 8 Mile then? At least no one can say it’s been done before.

The singer is already making his way to the small screen in a cameo for the upcoming season of Game Of Thrones. Maybe he’ll throw a little bit of Westeros into his rumored biopic, as well...
