Iconic memorabilia belonging to Bono and The Edge helped to raise €1.8 million in an auction to benefit musicians left with nothing after Hurricane Katrina.
Bono's sunglasses raised €15,000 at New York's Hard Rock Cafe, while his autographed Irish Falcon Gretsch Guitar went under the hammer for €132,700.
The Edge, who set up the Music Rising charity the auction on April 21 was in aid of, donated his Gibson Les Paul guitar (pictured) which sold for €177,000 and a 1958 Gibson archtop guitar, which topped £77,000.
Perplexed at the contents of his bedroom being on display, The Edge commented: "I have to say that it is a strange feeling to see some of your stuff up here."
Other musical items sold were Jimi Hendrix's 1966 Red Fender Mustang guitar, Bill Clinton's saxophone and a pair of John Lennon's round sunglasses.
