They've been known to bash out a mean 'One' cover...
The Lumineers have been talking about getting to open for U2 in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Toronto and East Rutherford as the 30th anniversary The Joshua Tree tour swings through North America in June.
Elsewhere it’ll be OneRepublic and Mumford & Sons taking care of support duties, with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds taking over once the tour hits Europe.
"I can remember covering the U2 song ‘One’ in bars back in NYC 10 years ago, with Jer on drums,” singer and guitarist Wesley Schultz recalls. “A lot has changed since then, but still - I NEVER thought we'd get the chance to open for such a legendary band, on such a legendary album - The Joshua Tree. Their songs are so timeless and transcendent; it's impossible to imagine a time when they didn't exist. That type of songwriting has always been the mountaintop for us - songs that can transcend generations.”
