Guitarist compares the singer's injuries to those following a car crash, but says "he's doing OK"
Following Bono's horrific cycling accident last month, The Edge has given an update on the recovery of the frontman.
The injury list suffered by the singer makes for grim reading: a fractured left arm and shattered elbow, as well as damage to his back and eye socket amongst other injuries.
"He actually showed us an X-Ray a couple of days later, and it looked like a miniature of the Eiffel Tower was in his elbow," the Edge said in an interview with radio network KROQ. "And then the same had to happen with a fracture of his pinky; the joint there was totally messed up, so that needed a bone graft. And the most vulnerable was actually his upper back, the scapula, because they couldn't put any plates in there or they decided not to do surgery."
According to The Edge, Bono "basically can't move for the next couple of months," but added that he is undergoing physio twice a day in his Dublin home, in an effort to speed the process up.
The guitarist wasn't without humour, though, adding, "We're kind of lucky he was wearing a helmet so he didn't actually break Central Park. He's made of tough stuff, and he's bouncing back."
