The Claw comes out of mothballs on August 6 in Turin.
U2 have confirmed that Bono has won his race to be fit in time for the start of U2’s European tour on August 6 in Turin.
“You don’t want to sit idly by, so I got out there to see what the talent was like,” The Edge tells u2.com. “There’s some great singers out there. I got to play with Muse, which was wonderful and amazing. But the funny thing was it just wasn’t the same. If I needed any confirmation, that was it – I want to be in this band. We have the best singer! He’s looking very well right now.”
Confirming that, Bono says: “Yes, I can sit. I can stand and I can move around a bit. I’m feeling strong, I’m feeling confident. I’m ready, rebuilt by German engineering, better design I’m told.”
At the same time, Live Nation have announced that the U2’s re-scheduled North American tour will start on May 21 2010 in Denver and run through until July 23 when they bring the curtain down on The Claw in Minneapolis.
“We’re delighted the dates are rescheduled and in all the same venues we originally planned to play,” comments Paul McGuinness. “It hasn't been easy to accomplish this and I'd like to thank the managers of the many venues and sports teams across North America and Live Nation Global Touring for their help and cooperation in making this complex new plan possible. Above all we want to thank the U2 fans for bearing with us. They’re the best and the band wants to get back to where they belong, surrounded by their audience.”
