iTunes users now have the option to delete Songs Of Innocence from their accounts.
Apple have now released a tool which allows their iTunes customers to remove U2's new album, Songs of Innocence, from their music library.
The company had received complaints from people concerned that the album automatically downloaded to their Apple devices without their consent.
This would have affected users who had selected the iTunes option of automatically downloading all purchases to their devices.
Those who don't want the album on their music libraries can simply avail of a one-click "opt out" by following this link.
Once the album is removed from the account, it will no longer be available to redownload as a previous purchase. If they decide they want the album later, they will need to get it again. The album will remain free to all until October 13.
Here's Apple's statement:
""Some customers asked for the ability to delete 'Songs of Innocence' from their library, so we set up [link]itunes.com/soi-remove[/link] to let them easily do so. Any customer that needs additional help should contact AppleCare."
Bono previously commented on U2's website:
"For the people out there who have no interest in checking us out, look at it this way: The blood, sweat and tears of some Irish guys are in your junk mail."
