New York hip hop gods the Sugarhill Gang are the star turn as BARE In The Woods 2016 takes over Garryhinch Woods in Portarlington again on June 11 and 12.
Renowned for such era-defining hits as ‘Rapper’s Delight’, ‘Apache’ and ‘8th Wonder’, they were the first hip hop act to infiltrate the mainstream American chart in 1979.
Also muscling in on the boutique festival action are Natty Wailer, King Kong Company, The Pale, Fox Jaw, August Wells, Dah Jevu, Pretty Beast, Slow Motion Heroes, Everything Shook, My Tribe Your Tribe, Suan and Cua. And that’s just for starters.
The site is close to Portarlington railway station, with regular onward Dublin Coach services to Limerick, Cork and the capital.
An environmentally-minded affair, 80% of the timber used on site will come from storm damaged trees.
Tickets are €40 or €50 with camping.
