Dublin’s favourite sons are back with a new album; Hot Press got a sneak peek at what we can expect
They might have gone off-grid for a little while, but The Script are back, with a new album - and they treated Hot Press to a selection of the new material!
Danny O’Donoghue was on hand to premiere song of the tracks from the forthcoming release No Sound Without Silence – and in return blag an advance copy of Hot Press, hitting the shelves tomorrow!
From the five songs that Hot Press heard, the sound is bigger than what three piece have offered before; songs made for rocking out stadiums and festivals. The album was written with the aid of a tour bus-cum-studio, in an attempt to capture the energy of live performance while out on a US tour.
Single ‘Superheroes’ has already racked up over 300,000 youtube views since it was uploaded Monday, and gives a flavour of the sound the band are now targeting.

‘Man on Wire’ – which O’Donoghue hinted to Hot Press would be the second single – has shades of ‘I’m Not Moving’, albeit with another bombastic chorus, while ‘The Energy Never Dies’ is a drum-driven sing-along anthem.
“We’re super excited,” said the frontman. “We genuinely feel that this is our best work. Not to put any of the other albums down, where we tried our hardest on every single one, but we’ve now taken eight years of experience and put it into this one.”
