The 70 year old Texan died in his home after a long battle with cirrhosis.
The sad news has arrived from the US that the legendary tenor saxophonist and Rolling Stone, Bobby Keys has passed away. His family confirmed his death with a Facebook post earlier today, no cause was given, however, it was known that he was fighting cirrhosis. He died in his home in Franklin, Tennessee, surrounded by family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Holly, and his son, Jesse.
Having emerged as a teenager, touring with the likes of Buddy Holly and Bobby Vee, Keys worked with the who's who of rock n' roll over his 50 plus years of making music, notably John Lennon, Warren Zevon, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Joe Cocker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, Marvin Gaye, BB King, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Chuck Berry, Harry Nilsson and, of course, The Rolling Stones.
His family have asked that all contributions go to St Jude's Children Research Hospital and The Humane Society.
