Matt Berninger: "Donald Trump is like the hanger that’s pulling out that wad of ugliness"
There is a long, long list of musicians who have blasted Trump. Maybe it'd be easier to list the musicians who actually do support Trump (Azealia Banks and Kid Rock are both on that short, unceremonious list). And now Longitude-headliners The National have put in their requisite condemnation, just in time for today's kickoff of the Republican National Convention.
Ahead of their performance at Longitude's sister Latitude festival in the UK, frontman Matt Berninger denounced Trump for unearthing "bigotry in America", likening the presumptive Republican nominee to a sickness. He further ridiculed the absurdity of Trump's nomination, saying, "[It's] like President Ronald McDonald or something".
Band member Aaron Desner noted that the entire band planned to back Hillary Clinton in the coming presidential election.
