The Choice Prize Irish Song of the Year shortlist has just been announced, with some seriously tasty tunes gunning for March glory in Vicar St.
The runners and riders are The Academic's 'Different', The Coronas' 'How This Goes', Daithi's 'Mary Keane's Introduction', Fight Like Apes' 'Pretty Keen On Centrefolds', Hozier's 'Someone New', Gavin James' 'Bitter Pill', Kodaline's 'Ready', Otherkin's 'Ay Ay', Pleasure Beach's 'Go' and All Tvvins' 'Thank You'.
The Academic are rather pleased with their nomination.
"We released our debut single 'Different' not so long ago in Ireland," they reflect. "We didn't have any major expectations with it but today hearing that it is the No.1 played and most listened to song for an independent Irish act in the country for 2015 is mind blowing. We are also so fucking delighted that it's been nominated for Choice Music Prize for Song Of The Year."
That's a euro in the swear-box, chaps!
The unveiling was done on Today FM who'll once again be broadcasting live from the gong-giving ceremony.
