Channel 4 have given the green light for a third and fourth series.
It's a multi-award winning show so it's not rocket science that Channel 4 decided to carry out the Catastrophe.
The joint brainchild of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, Catastrophe boasts on its mantel two 2015 IFTA Gala Television Awards (Comedy Writer, Comedy/Soap Actress), 2016 Royal Television Society Awards (Scripted Comedy and Writer: Comedy) two 2016 Broadcasting Press Guild Awards (Best Comedy and Best Writer), a 2016 BAFTA TV Craft (Writer: Comedy), a 2016 Rose D’Or Award (Best Sitcom), a 2016 Golden Nymphs Award (best actress in comedy); a 2016 South Bank Sky Arts Award (Comedy); and a 2016 Women in Film and TV Awards (Writing). Phew!
Starring Horgan and Delaney in the titular roles, the pair find themselves parents after one week of romping, end up as parents. The trials and tribulations of first-time parenthood, getting to know each other and domestic life is only a snapshot of what Catastrophe has to offer. The show has done incredibly well over here, in the UK and in America, showing the relevancy and relatability factor that Horgan and Delaney carry with such charm.
Speaking of Catastrophe's return, Head of Channel 4 comedy Phil Clarke was only delighted to invite Sharon and Rob back into our lives; "I am thrilled to commission a third and fourth series of the multi award-winning Catastrophe. It's a welcome return for the brave, razor edged, excruciatingly honest and painfully funny portrayal of a modern, long term relationship."
Season Three is intended to go into production this November with it makings its debut in 2017. HOORAY!
