The Carlow actress is one of the publication's "Next Generation Leaders".
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has appeared on the cover of Time magazine. The Carlow native was one of ten young people named in the magazine's "Next Generation Leaders".
Ronan is seen to be a forerunner for changing how young actresses are portrayed both on screen and on the stage. Speaking to Time Ronan said, "It’s important for me to play intelligent women, because I think in art, you have a responsibility to portray real life. It’s even more important now that there’s such a massive shift towards feminism that men and women see strong, complex women onscreen".

Ronan is currently starring in a Broadway production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible. This is not the first time an Irish celebrity has appeared on the cover of the magazine. U2 and Taoiseach Enda Kenny have also appeared on the cover in recent years.
