The Dublin-based spoken word artist is one of the exciting names lined-up for this Thursday.
Following the success of the last event back in March - when indie folk-rocker Nathaniel Rateliff brought the house down, ably assisted by Brian Deady and All Tvvins - Jameson Bow St. Sessions is doing it all over again! This time, with its most ambitious line-up yet.
June 15 will see Paul Alwright team up with Dublin rockers Raglans, electronic producer Daithí Ó Drónaí at Jameson Distillery Bow St. for a show that will bring together some of the more diverse strands of modern Irish music, in a spirit that's entirely original.
But who exactly is Paul Alwright? He may be more familiar to fans as Lethal Dialect - under which moniker he operated for 10 years. Now, Paul is striking out in a different direction on his upcoming album. Taking his cue from the thriving spoken word/poetry scene in Dublin, he has been harnessing a new sound.
Working and writing as Lethal Dialect, Paul was one of Ireland's sharpest rappers. If he seemed to drop off the radar following the success of his debut album 1988, that was only half the story. Not only has he stepped into the world of acting with a role in the upcoming crim film Cardboard Gangster, but he was also break new ground musically.
"I got to the stage where I couldn't really express myself writing the way I was," he says. "I was touring with Damo Dempsey and that was great, but the way I was writing started to feel dead to me. Then I started listening to stuff outside of my comfort zone. I collaborated with Dave Prendergast from Overhead, The Albatross and he created these amazing post-rock soundscapes which was so rich that I knew I wouldn't be able to rap to them, so I went down that path of trying to do spoken word."

Working with the likes of Emmet Kirwan in recent months and making modern Irish culture a prominent focus in his writing, now's the perfect time for Paul to take centre stage again. He'll be joining Daithí and Raglans this Thursday for a show like no other.
