There have been rumours flying around that the pair are set to release a covers LP, now a Cork-bound Neil Young has released a statement...
Calling it the "lowest tech" record he has ever made, Neil Young told Rolling Stone last night that he is set to release A Letter Home in March.
It is confirmation of the work he's undertaken with Jack White in the former White Stripe man's Nashville studio.
Further details have now emerged on both Young's site and the site of White's Third Man Records, posted under the name 'Homer Grosvenor':
"Third Man Records unearths Neil Young's A Letter Home... an unheard collection of rediscovered songs from the past recorded on ancient electro-mechanical technology [which] captures and unleashes the essence of something that could have been gone forever."

It strongly suggests A Letter Home will be the 12 track covers record laid down at Third Man Records – Young had been using a refurbished 1947 Voice-o-Graph machine (check out Brendan Benson using it in the video below). Don't expect to hear White on the album – Young's Facebook has denied reports that it will feature duets, so this is likely to be that "other album" White told fans he was producing this month, aside from his own forthcoming second solo LP.
As for Young, he brings Crazy Horse to Live At The Marquee in Cork on July 10.
