Dan Rothman from the band discusses the release of Songs Of Innocence in the new issue of Hot Press.
They were in Galway last Sunday with Kodaline and Dan Croll as part of Guinness Amplify, and platinum-selling UK act London Grammar took the time to give their opinion on Ireland's own U2 gifting iTunes users their new album.
Talking to Craig Fitzpatrick, Dan Rothman of the trio said: "To be honest, it's the sort of thing that U2 would do. That's because they are quite forward-thinking about the way they release their music, and the way they do everything – the way they tour as well. So it was unsurprising in a way."
"I think people are getting their knickers in a twist about it," the guitarist continued. "The thing that's pissed everybody off is that it's gone on to their iPhones immediately. I don't think they should have done that, I think they should have made it free to download. That's a great thing to do and there's nothing wrong with that. But to kind of almost force it, that's where it gets a bit weird. So I understand people are pissed off. But to be honest, I don't really care too much if it's on my phone! I'm not that bothered, I'm not going to listen to it either way."
Pick up the new issue of Hot Press (Delorentos cover) for further artist reaction on U2's comeback and expect a full London Grammar feature in the very near future.
