The Compton rapper is here in January...
One of the year’s biggest hip hop breakthrough acts, Kendrick Lamar, is Dublin-bound on January 14 for what’s sure to be a sell-out show in Vicar St.
Tickets priced €30 go on sale on Thursday November 15.
A good pal of Lady Gaga’s – they’ve recorded two tracks together, both awaiting an official release – the Compton rapper got to No. 2 in the States with good kid, m.A.A.d city.
The old-school feel is down to him growing up on a diet of Tupac, Notorious BIG and Nas.
One of good kid, m.A.A.d city.’s standouts, ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe’, was originally conceived as a Gaga collaboration but the Lady pulled out for artistic reasons.

“I love Kendrick dearly as a friend, but was not willing to compromise musically to the changes his team was making to my music,” she explains. “This is why I am not on his record. I have a very specific vision as a producer and songwriter, and I always have. That song will be released at a different time, for a different project. I love you, and think you should check out his stuff because he is truly great. He’s a good kid, it’s just sometimes a mad city.”
To show there’s no hard feelings, she’s posted a homemade video of what you nearly heard on the album!
