U2, Foo Fighters and Norah Jones are just a few of the heavyweights assembling in New York for I Walk The Line: A Night For Johnny Cash.
Airing live in the States on CBS, the hour-long tribute taking place on November 16 will also feature such myriad talents as Sheryl Crow, Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakam, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley and Johnny's old drinking buddy Kris Kristofferson.
MC-ing duties are being taken care of by Dennis Quaid and Reese Witherspoon who plays June Carter Cash in the Walk The Line biopic, which receives its US premiere two days later.
The role of Johnny is taken by Joaquin Phoenix who, as you can see from the movie poster isn’t half bad at this doppelganger lark.
The film is being promoted with an all-star series of quotes such as the one from Metallica’s James Hetfield who gushes that, “It’s him and his guitar – not flashy – putting his heart out through the music.”
Ardent fans, U2 not only supplied the Man In Black with one of his biggest Rick Rubin-era hits, 'One', but got him to sing on one of the stand-outs from their Zooropa album, 'The Wanderer'.
