It is a big night for Irish music, in a pre-St.Patrick’s Day special Late Late Show...
Tonight is a big night for Irish music on the Late Late Show, where host Ryan Tubridy will be joined by Hozier – who has become a global sensation since his video for ’Take Me To Church’ went viral. His eponymous album Hozier has sold over a million copies worldwide, charting in most of the major markets. It has performed especially well in the United States, where sales are in excess of 500,000 copies.
Meanwhile, the single ’Take Me To Church’ has gone platinum in seven territories and won a series of awards, including the BBC’s Song of the Year, as well as Top Rock Song in the US trade bible's Billboard Awards. His story is one of the great success stories in the music industry over the past three years…
The Late Late appearance is timely, in that Andrew Hozier Byrne celebrates his birthday later in the week – he will be 26 on St. Patrick’s Day.

He is joined on the Late Late Show by current Hot Press ‘flip-cover’ stars Little Green Cars, whose second album Ephemera is released today. “It may be the vehicle that sends them rocketing to the stars,” Edwin McFee said in his review in the current issue of Hot Press, citing the divine talent of Faye O’Rourke as the band's USP. And who are we to argue?
Also appearing on the show tonight is Hot Press illustrator extraordinaire, David Rooney, who will be talking about his superb illustrations for the book 1916: Portraits and Lives, which is published by the Royal Irish Academy.
