They're up respectively for Best Song & Original Film Score
With no less than five Billboard Awards nods ahead of their prizegiving next month, Hozier could have been forgiven for thinking that his awards show schedule was busy enough; not so, as now the Ivor Novellos may have to be added to his itinerary.
The highly-respected songwriting awards have shortlisted the Wicklow superstar in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category, where 'Take Me To Church' will fight it out with Bear Den’s 'Above The Clouds of Pompeii' and 'I Forget Where We Were' by Ben Howard.
Also hoping to bag himself one of those famous statuettes is Belfast's David Holmes whose '71 soundtrack is competing with Gary Yershon's Mr. Turner and Dario Marianelli's The Boxtrolls for Best Original Film Score.
The prestigious Best Album category sees Royal Blood's self-titled debut competing with Present Tense by Wild Beasts and Bombay Bicycle Club’s So Long, See You Tomorrow, while the Most Performed Work category is a three-way battle between Sam Smith, Clean Bandit and George Ezra, and their respective songs 'Stay With Me', 'Rather Be' and 'Budapest'.
The gongs will be handed out in London on May 21.
