The Real Mr Nice is coming to DVD and blu-ray – with your help.
January brought the extremely sad news that Howard Marks has inoperable cancer but, true to form, the infamous former dope smuggler turned celebrity author and cannabis legalisation campaigner is not letting that slow him down.
February 27 finds a number of his famous friends (Rhys Ifan, Super Furry Animals, Cerys Matthews and Andrew Maxwell among them) giving him the tribute treatment in the London Forum and this afternoon, his new PledgeMusic campaign has gone live:

Marks is looking to raise funds for the release of The Real Mr Nice on DVD and blu-ray, featuring never-seen-before footage from his '70s home movies and secretly filmed clips of his adventures.
For the very first time Howard has granted access to his highly organised, and extraordinarily eclectic personal archive, allowing director Sam Rowland complete freedom to digitise illuminating scenes from 100s of hours of footage.
Featuring interviews with hitherto unknown collaborators in Howard’s hashish empire, previously illusive and unlikely candidates have finally come out of the woodwork as they watch the war on drugs recede. Their strange tales reveal the often hilarious inside story of the real Cheech and Chongs.
Studying all aspects of the once notorious smuggler, The Real Mr Nice shines a light on sides of Howard’s life and personality not previously revealed to the media – his hobbies, academic endeavours, family life, friendships and 1970s career in music production.
