Iron & Wine, Calexico and Kathleen Edwards joined the Dublin man to sing ‘Fairy Tale of New York’ last night on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
If you’re still having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit, this might be just the tonic for you.
Last night, Glen Hansard and a few friends including Iron & Wine, Calexico and Kathleen Edwards joined together to perform a cover of the Pogues’ Christmas staple ‘Fairy Tale of New York’ on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
While no version will ever fare well when compared to the original recording (particularly Shane McGowan’s distinctive vocals), the artists involved make a decent fist of the song and it is far from the desecration that other attempts to cover the song have ended up.

Meanwhile, the 1987 track is once again back in the UK Singles Charts and currently sits at No. 16.
