Things are going seriously well for Glen Hansard in the States with his soundtrack to the Sundance winning Once going top 10 on iTunes there.
Shot for just €125,000, the movie has taken a cool $1.739 million in the US despite so far only being on limited release.
That’s all set to change, though, as the film hits secondary markets all over the country. Reviews have been almost universally positive with Kanas City.Com describing it as “deeply moving – goosebump time”, the Berkshire Eagle deeming it “the most affecting love story to come along in years” and the Cherry Hill Courier Post commending it for “reinventing the musical movie brilliantly.”
Once is currently at number four on the indieWire Independent Box-Office Chart, with bigger per screen grosses than the liked of Hot Fuzz, The Wind That Shakes The Barley and The Lives Of Others.
