Caherconlish, County Limerick musician Niamh Dunne and her Antrim-based trad band, Beoga, are appearing on the upcoming Ed Sheeran album, ÷ (Divide).
After being namechecked by Ed on his BBC Radio One appearance last Friday, they confirmed that, “Yes, the rumours are true. A few months ago we flew to England to Ed's studio and made some new music with the man himself. We had a great fews days playing music and having the craic and we're delighted to be involved in what'll no doubt be the biggest album of 2017.
“It's going to be a pretty big year for us, plans are afoot so we'll keep ye posted. Keep an eye out for Ed's album later in the year. Exciting times!”
Our man Stuart Clark this morning supplied Limerick’s Live 95 with one of its lead news stories when he reminded them of what Ed told him in 2015 ahead of his Croke Park sell-outs.
“We weren’t going to do Croker.” Mr. S said. “We were going to do Cork and Limerick and all the places other than Dublin but I think that’s a next tour thing.”
All eyes will now be on Thomond Park where the people who look after Ed’s gigs here, Aiken Promotions, have previously staged Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Pink shows.
