Although we don't know how reliable these 'sources' are, it's interesting to see the amount of traction this particular rumor has gathered.
On a social media hiatus for the past several months, Ed Sheeran is slowly creeping back into the limelight.
According to The Sun, the 'Thinking Out Loud' star could be the one to grace the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2017. His performance would be part and parcel of a promotional run-up to the release of his third studio album. This third album is supposedly due to commence recording at the end of this year.
No stranger to big crowds, the singer/songwriter managed to sell out an astonishing 3 night performance in London's Wembley Stadium which holds an impressive 90,000. This was preceded by a 178 date world tour Sheeran completed, covering Asia, North and South America, Australia and Europe with his album x. It's not the first time Sheeran's toyed with the idea of Glastonbury as he revealed to the Press Association back in 2015; "The next festival I do will be headlining Glastonbury, but it just won't be next year. I want to be able to have at least three or four albums before I do it. There's not going to be an Adele-style break. I'm not having kids, I'm not getting married. But I won't be headlining Glastonbury next year."
Although the dust has barely settled on Glastonbury 2016, 2017 is fast approaching and with Sheeran's year long-hiatus almost coming to an end (hopefully!), stadiums, arenas and festivals are going to want to get their hands on the hottest ticket in town.
