This year’s Africa Day flagship event will take place on Sunday, 27th May at Farmleigh Estate in Dublin.
Family-focused and free of charge, Africa Day is a colourful, vibrant and uplifting celebration of Africa’s rich culture and unity.
It also serves to highlight important links between a diverse continent and Ireland. The celebration will run from 11am to 6pm and is supported by Irish Aid. Irish Aid has been the driving force behind Africa Day celebrations in Ireland since 2006. Here is a short video of last year’s Dublin event.
This year’s Africa Day Dublin event will feature three stages of live music with performances by well-known African and Irish musicians, traditional African drumming and dance workshops and cultural performances.
It will also feature an African bazaar showcasing food, hair-braiding and traditional fashion designs from various African countries, and a dedicated children’s area, ‘Mount Kiddimanjaro’. This jammed-packed celebration has something for everyone.
Check out this video clip of Dagogo, who is a super cool spoken word artist, who will be performing on the day. He has also performed as part of the St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Electric Picnic, amongst other events.
