After his debut Bouncers, O’Callaghan got captivated by the suicide ratings in Ireland to the extent he decided to make a movie about it. The Gift follows a man, Sean, who has just lost his wife to cancer and unable to forget about her, he decides to kill himself. As he plans his death, little things make him doubt his decision. Little things such as being with his family, even his demanding landlord make him think about life.

The Gift intends to show the grieving process in a realistic way and raise awareness of suicide, grief and loss.

The Gift is now screening in a select amount of Irish theatres.
