Drumroll please!
Having finally escaped the confines of the recording studio after months of hard graft, Dublin rockers Delorentos have lifted the lid on the details of their forthcoming third album.
Working alongside acclaimed producer Rob Kirwan (U2, PJ Harvey, 30 Seconds To Mars) has yielded results in the form of what the band have described as their "most personal album" to date.
Speaking exclusively to Hot Press, the confident foursome revealed that the follow-up to 2009's You Can Make Sound will go by the title Little Sparks. 15 songs have been recorded (including the title track) with the final tracklisting yet to be confirmed.
"I'm very proud of our first two albums," states frontman Rónán Yourell. "But on this one we've given more of ourselves personally than we have before. We spent the first couple of albums learning to play and write music together, and we've learned so much along the way. We think the new songs are a lot stronger."
"We had a discussion before we started recording, and I think they felt that they as a band had never appeared before on record," explains producer Rob Kirwan. "Their records up til now sound great but it doesn’t necessarily sound like Delorentos playing in a room. Hopefully we’ve achieved that. Not very much changed in the mixing process. It’s just gotten bigger, fatter, wider, deeper! All the things that a mix is supposed to do, I hope."

Bassist Níal Conlan is particularly excited by what he feels can be accomplished with Little Sparks.
“As an independent band, we have a degree of freedom in what we do," he says. "So this time around, there’s no second-guessing. We have an opportunity to try everything that we’ve ever wanted to try as a band. We’ve gone through an awful lot of crap as a band, and it’s important to remember that one of the reasons we’re in a band is to experience new things. So with this album, we’re trying things we’ve never tried before.”
With the band remaining tight-lipped on the rumours that they have an innovative release planned for Little Sparks, make sure to keep your eyes peeled to Hot Press for just when and how album no. 3 makes its bow.
