Two of the country's leading musicians have added their names to the Hot Press petition opposing proposed changes to the Criminal Justice Bill
Christy Moore, Glen Hansard, Damien Dempsey, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, David Kitt, John Spillane and The Revs are the latest musicians to add their names to the Hot Press petition opposing the introduction of Anti Social Behaviour Orders and On The Spot Fines in Ireland.
The online petition has been attracting a high level of interest and new signatures are being added, in numbers, every day.
Many of Ireland’s top musicians have already come out in support of the online petition, including Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, Kila, Aslan, Johnny Moy, Republic of Loose, Frank Kearns, Stanley Super 800, Rulers Of The Planet, Declan Murphy from the 4 of Us, The Blizzards, Saucy Monky, The Marshal Stars, comedian Dermot Carmody and many more.
"This is an issue that people are thinking carefully about," Hot Press editor Niall Stokes commented. "But the overwhelming feeling among the artists we have spoken to is that they are very concerned about the legislation, and that they will be voicing their opposition to it through Hot Press."

Hot Press has joined forces with the Union of Students in Ireland, in opposing aspects of the Criminal Justice Bill. The Hot Press petition is supported by groups like the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, the Children’s Rights Alliance, the National Youth Council and the National Youth Federation, who are also campaigning against the introduction of ASBOs.
