Poor old Beelzebub is being run out of business by a Tom Jones-loving exorcist. Caught In The Net by Stuart Clark.
He sounds like a leftover character from Father Ted but, no, The Tom Jones Exorcist is for real and casting out the devil as we speak in the good old US of A.
“In 1969, when I was only six-years-old, This Is Tom Jones first aired on television,” explains Pastor Jack of the Progressive Universal Life Church. “Jones’ voice made me feel as if I was surrounded by angels. It’s a feeling I still experience today. It’s an inner peace not easy to describe. It’s spiritual. Considering Tom Jones was responsible for my spiritual awakening as a child, it’s only natural for me to incorporate him into my ministry as an adult. I perform sermons, marriages, baptisms, funerals and exorcisms with the aid of Jones’ music. I also dress up and dance like Tom Jones during church services.”
You really couldn’t make it up.
Having had your appetites whetted by Paul Nolan’s potentially Pulitzer Prize-winning on-set preview, you’ll be delighted to hear that The League Of Gentleman’s Apocalypse will be hitting the big screen on June 3. If the scenery looks familiar that’s because large chunks of the film were shot in Avoca, County Wicklow. For a pre-release taster log on to www.uip.co.uk/leagueofgentlemen/
Sticking with the movies, and www.dehavilland.co.uk
has a so-daft-it-has-to-be-true story about the nutcracking tuition the 200 squirrels in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory were given.
