Having previously sung with Frank Sinatra, Bono is helping to celebrate the 80th birthday of that other Italian-American great, Tony Bennett.
The U2 man lines up alongside The Dixie Chicks, Elton John, Billy Joel, Sting, James Taylor, John Legend, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Tim McGraw, Barbra Streisand and Mary J. Blige on a Bennett-fronted duets album out on September 26.
“I’m just so thrilled that all these contemporary artists want to sing with me,” Tony tells Billboard magazine. “They’re all making me feel so good.”
One of the first people to pop in Capitol Records’ legendary Studio A was a besuited Elton John.
“You want to look smart, you want to feel good, because that makes me feel better,” says the Dwight boy. “You don’t come here in a track-suit or looking scruffy. I could never forgive myself for that.”
