Starring Arctic Monkeys, Of Montreal, The Fratellis, Ani DiFranco, Lanterns On The Lake and, of course, Sinéad & Miley...
This weekend isn’t only about Ireland giving Helmut Foreigner a footballing roistering they’ll remember for decades to come. It’s also the perfect time to revel in the finest new tunes around, which is where Free Music Friday comes in!
Mixtape of the Week, Month and possibly Year so far is the debut offering from Kelela, a supremely funky affair featuring beats from Girl Unit, Jam City, Bok Bok, Nguzunguzu and her Fade To Mind label boss Kingdom. Cut 4 Me is already earning the Maryland-born, Los Angeles-domiciled singer favourable comparisons with Erykah Badu and a rake of ‘60s soulsters.
Cass McCombs, Atlantis, Kwes, Lanterns On The Lake, Daniel Romano, Sleigh Bells, Fuzz, Earthless, Au Revoir Simone, Machine Drum, Of Montreal, Revere, The Fratellis and North Mississippi Allstars all have new albums streaming at [link]3voor12.vpro.nl/luisterpaal/albums.html[/link]; [link]npr.org/series/98679384/first-listen[/link] brings Cults, The Dismemberment Plan, Lucius, Tim Hecker and Darkside to the advance listening party; [link]npr.org/series/98679384/first-listen[/link] is upfront with Crystal Antlers and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.; http://pitchfork.com/advance wants you to get an early eyeful of Oozing Wound, Courtney Barnett, Daniel Avery and Frog Eyes and [link]albumstreams.com[/link] lets you try A Day To Remember, Wolfheart, Heavenly Beat, The Kickdrums, Fall Out Boy, Lisa Papineau, Pearl Jam, Chumped and Strangelight before you buy.
It’s quality as opposed to quantity as the evergreen Ani DiFranco gifts us a rarities EP that includes a particularly gorgeous 2004 live acoustic version of ‘Bliss Like This’.

As New York-based, Dublin-born singer-songwriter Sorcha Richardson is starting to make waves on both sides of the Atlantic with her solo work, she's also been working on a brand new project called CON VOS – quite a departure from her confessional, acoustic day job. Their debut music promo, for synth-y track 'Central Park', has just been unveiled. Directed by Matt Baron, you can check it out below.
Also new from the Noise Trade stable is a sampler from slinky electro soulster Nuela Charles; Andrew Juddah’s full-length Albino Black Bear, which reminds FMF of Sufjan Stevens in his mellower moments and from Houston, Texas The Beans who are equally in thrall to such newbies as The Black Keys as they are the legendary likes of Led Zeppelin.
They’re shockingly overdue Irish gigs, but Superchunk redeem themselves ever so slightly with this wonderful free acoustic download session.

Superstar Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten celebrates his 900th Facebook hit by giving away an extended version of his 2004 ‘Midsummer Rain’ classic.
Hotly tipped Aussies Sincerely Grizzy invite you to name your price for rollicking new tune ‘Us Or Optimism’.
Wardell, the LA oufit featuring Theo and Sasha Spielberg in their folky pop ranks, gift us ‘Opossum’. Dad Steven has every right to feel proud!

Given their wonderfully eccentric behaviour, we’re very much looking forward to VH1’s upcoming TLC biopic, which is also tinged with tragedy by dint of the death of Left Eye Lopes.
Just when we thought we couldn’t be any more admiring of the Arctic Monkeys they go and produce this beyond amazing cover of Drake’s ‘We’re Going Home’.
Horslips are streaming ‘The Power And The Glory’, one of the ace 45s – ask your grandparents – that graces their Biography collection, which drops on November 1, a few days before Mark Cunningham’s written Tall Tales bio of the legendary Celtic rockers.
The 2-CD singles package includes a rare Aliens outtake, ‘Bridge From Heart To Heart’, and a rollicking cover of Johnny & The Hurricanes’ ‘Red River Rock’ recorded in Cleveland. We’re sure they said “hello!” beforehand.

We’re a bit Sinéad/Miley-ed out to be honest with you, but this ‘Wrecking Ball’/‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ mash-up is deadly.
Not a bad post-spanking The Hun soundtrack we think you’ll agree! In the meantime, keep those links coming to @stuartclark66
