And now for Rachel’s WRITE HERE, WRITE NOW entry ...
Social Media.
I am no worse than the jagged knife,
Idle on the table
Or blank paper, dormant beside a pen.
I am no better than my ancestors,
Paternal paper or
Maternal media of yesterday.
I am not a crooked journalist.
I equal a voice, though not my own.
Rough consonants and wide vowels,
Stretching my tongue,
A million languages.
I am a soldier,
Trekking onwards,
Navigating the route of commands.
I am a mess of verbs and nouns,
The occasional flavoursome adjective,
Trickling, through
My binary DNA.
I am a lens
Tethering between reality and filter.
My eye sees, it does not work overtime
And judge also. I am a platform,
As they say. A boundary between realms.
Like Hermes, I hurtle through the clouds
Transmitting messages from your world
To that of your neighbours.
I am simply a medium,
A voice to be possessed.
You are the ghost.
