Joe Cornish of Attack The Block is tipped to direct.
King Kong is scheduled to make his return to the big screen in Skull island, with Joe Cornish of Attack The Block fame expected to be the director. This would be Kong's eighth film appearance spanning back to 1933, with the last being 2005's Peter Jackson-directed King Kong.
In a video debuted at Comic-Con, observers were given a first-person approach into Skull Island that ended with a roaring King Kong making an appearance. Legendary Pictures, the studio in charge of the film, has plans for a tentative November 2016 release date.Legendary Pictures have previously released Godzilla and Pacific Rim.

Joe Cornish has been building an impressive resume in recent years, serving as a co-writer for Steven Spielberg's The Adventures Of Tintin and working on an early version of the script for Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man. After 2011's Attack The Block, Cornish's name has been thrown around for big-name directing gigs such as Star Trek 3 and A Good Day To Die Hard.
