Richie Sambora proves that there’s life after Bob Jovi when he brings his new band to Ireland for shows in the Dublin Olympia (June 30) and the Belfast Ulster Hall (July 1). Tickets go on sale next Thursday.
He’ll be joined on stage by Orianthi, the guitar prodigy who’s played lead with among others Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.
Produced by Dave Stewart, her 2013 Heaven Is This Hell album is well worth checking out if you like your riffs serrated.
While the reasons have never been fully disclosed, Sambora is not best pleased that Bon Jovi headed out on last year’s Because We Can tour, which included a Slane stop-off, without him.
“At the end of the day, if you’re going to buy a can of Coke, you want the real thing.” he said recently. “Jon just has a different mentality. I know Mick Jagger wouldn’t tour without Keith Richards and call it the Rolling Stones.”
Asked whether he might one day return to the ranks, he added: “There will have to be a lot of communication, a lot of talking.”
