Conor J. O'Brien has just got the nod in London!
Team Hot Press is delighted to report that Villagers’ Becoming A Jackal has been nominated for this year’s Mercury Music Prize.
While admittedly a bit biased, we reckon the boy O’Brien’s debut offering has a pretty decent chance of beating The xx’s xx, I Am Kloot’s Sky At Night, Foals’ Total Life Forever, Dizzee Rascal’s Tongue N’ Cheek, Laura Marling’s I Speak Because I Can, Kit Downes Trio’s Golden, Wild Beasts’ Two Dancers, Paul Weller’s Wake Up The Nation, Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More, Biffy Clyro’s Only Revolutions and Corinne Bailey Rae’s The Sea to that juicy big cheque.
Villagers have just this second played at the Mercury launch bash, which is taking place in London’s Hospital Club. More as we get it!
