A recording of Van's recent Hollywood gig will be released on his own label early next month.
Van Morrison has confirmed the February 6 release of Astral Weeks Live At The Hollywood Bowl, which finds him performing his classic 1968 album in its entirety in front of a baying Californian audience.
A concert film version will follow later in the year. The album is being released on Van’s own Listen To The Lion label, with EMI handling the international distribution.
“EMI has had the good fortune to work with Van over the years, but I’m personally excited about this release because I worked with Van back in 1968 on the original Astral Weeks” enthuses Ian Ralfini, Senior Vice President, EMI Music. “This particular show at the Bowl was electrifying. For some of us it was a little bit of nostalgia and for others it was a brand new experience. But for everyone it was a great concert and a piece of musical history. We are honoured that Van has returned to EMI.”
What his fans want to know now is will there be an Astral Weeks tour?
