VAN DIRECTS ASTRAL WEEKS DOC

Van Morrison is directing a documentary that will focus on his live 2009 version of his 1968 album Astral Weeks.

It is also believed that Van will take the opportunity to correct a number of misconceptions about him that have grown over the years.

The documentary is scheduled to be released in 2010 under the title To Be Born Again, a phrase from his song ‘Astral Weeks’, and part of it will feature Van rehearsing for the Astral Weeks concert that took place at the Hollywood Bowl in November last year. It will also include in-depth interviews with him. Initially, the film will be seen in arthouse cinemas in New York and LA, and may also be entered for Cannes and the Sundance film festival.

According to Morrison’s business partner Gigi Lee, Van has stated that he wishes to dispel myths that have attached to him throughout his career, including the assumption that his lyrics are autobiographical. Lee says that for the first time, people can hear the truth direct from the man himself, rather than the false stories of the tabloids.
