They've also announced more European tour dates.
U2 made yet more history last night when they beat the New York Giants Stadium attendance record set in 1995 by Pope John Paul II.
84,472 fans turned up to see the band play their second consecutive night in the ginormodome.
"News just in,” announced Bono from the stage. “We've broken every record for attendance in this stadium – including the Pope. Sorry Bruce, we know it’s your birthday and all!"
Acknowledging the fact that the New Jersey venue is soon to be demolished, he added: “We probably won't be here again before the wrecking ball but it was a magic place for us as well as the Giants.”
The band have also announced a second round of European dates in 2010, which includes their first forays to Russia and Turkey.
The cities in for a visit are Frankfurt (August 10); Hannover (12); Horsens (15); Helsinki (20); Moscow (25); Vienna (30); Athens (September 3); Istanbul (6); Munich (15); Paris (18); Seville (29); and Coimbra (October 2).
Ticket details are available from u2.com whose members can also look forward to a Melon-style album featuring “remixes spanning U2’s catalogue and also some surprises.”
