Last night turned out to be an extremely good one for U2 with the chaps picking up a Best Original Song Golden Globe with ‘Ordinary Love’.
“This really is personal for us,” Bono says of their involvement with its parent Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom film. "This man turned our life upside down, right-side up, a man who refused to hate, not because he didn't have rage or anger or these things, but that he thought love would do a better job.
“We wrote a love song because it kind of is what is extraordinary about the film — it is kind of a dysfunctional love story. That's why you should see this film. You know about the global statesman, you don't know about the man, that's why you should see this film. We're good at the dysfunctional love stories.”
Added The Edge: "We have been working for President Mandela since the '70s since we were teenagers when we did our very first concert against the apartheid movement. It's taken us 35 years to write this song."

In other news, the band have confirmed details of ‘Invisible’, a new track that’s being released shortly in conjunction with the (RED) initiative. An accompanying video was shot for it last week in Los Angeles.
