Donal Lunny, Paddy Glackin, Sharon Shannon and more are still to come...
Kilkenny has been the place to be over the past few days, as the 2015 TradFest turns the Marble City musical. With two days of the festival left, a host of heavy-hitters are still to play.
Esteemed duo Paddy Glackin and Donal Lunny grace the Set Theatre stage this evening for a double headliner with Pauline Scanlon, Padraig Rynne and Notify. Tonight's gig should be the perfect St. Patrick's Eve occasion – Glackin is a heralded fiddler and always works well with Lunny who, as a founding member of the likes of Planxty, The Bothy Band and Moving Hearts, is a central player in Irish trad.
The collaboration between Pauline Scanlon and Padraig Rynne (along with his band Notify) has been similarly successful.
You'll also find a host of free gigs happening around the city.
Tomorrow, St. Patrick's Day, finds Mary Black playing Langton's and a free outdoor concert on the grounds of Kilkenny Castle from Sharon Shannon and Steve Cooney. The annual parade takes place at 1pm on Tuesday.
