Eagles of Death Metal frontman opens up about the night of the attacks for the new HBO doc, which includes interviews with Bono and Josh Homme.
HBO has released the trailer for Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis, the Colin Hanks-directed documentary about the 2015 attacks on the Bataclan Theater. The trailer includes haunting footage from the gig just before the attacks, with Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes giving his testimony on what happened that night.
"I saw fear take over everyone in that theater," he says, his face turned downward from the camera.
The film also includes interviews with Bono, Josh Homme, and more paying their respects to the band. Bono states in the trailer, "Very few people have stared down cold-blooded evil." The film also focuses on Eagles of Death Metal in the months after the attack. In the aftermath of the tragic events, they continued with their music, eventually even returning for another gig at the Bataclan.
Hanks also promised that the film wouldn't "walk around" the more controversial statements made by Hughes after the attack. During an interview on Fox Business News, Hughes implied that the security employed at the Bataclan was in on the attack, saying "It seems rather obvious that they had a reason not to show up." Hughes recanted his statements, but this upcoming documentary promises to tell the whole story, including more about those controversial remarks.
Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis comes out February 13. Watch the trailer below.
