Sharon Shannon, Mary Black, Donal Lunny and more are all coming to the Marble City in March.
If it's ceol agus craic you’re after, look no further than the Kilkenny TradFest 2015, which brings a superb range of musicians to the city over the St. Patrick’s Weekend.
Now in its third year, there are a host of exciting free and ticketed events planned between March 14 – 17.
One big show will be Sharon Shannon's appearance, with band, in the fine environs of the Kilkenny Castle Yard. Best of all, it's free.
Also set to play are Mary Black, Donal Lunny & Paddy Glackin, Pauline Scanlon & Padraig Rynne’s Notify, Leonard Barry, Conor Byrne & Andy Morrow, Edel Fox, Seo Linn, Sweeney’s Men, Ronan O’Snodaigh, Lumiere, Aengus Hackett and Turkish vocalist Sanem Halfa.
Not only that, there will be the Soundings: Holy Trinity event, which finds Lisa Hannigan and Dylan Haskins being joined by a "holy trinity" of guests from different walks of Irish life. That takes place in Kilkenny Castle's Long Gallery. Tony Clayton Lea will be bringing his Culture Vultures to the festival for the first time, while the Bulmers Music Trail returns. Included in the over 70 free gigs are names such as John Spillane, The Steve Cooney Trio and Seo Linn.
Elsewhere, the annual parade takes place at 1pm on Tuesday March 17. Add in a children's singing and animation workshop, vintage fairground rides, drumming circles and ceilis and you've the makings of another great edition.
