The Hot Sprockets and Ownsie are among the performers for Tower Live on Record Store Day...
With International Record Store Day fast approaching, Tower Records have announced details of a packed programme for the April 20 celebration.
As well as packing their shelves with special vinyl releases from the likes of Nick Cave, The Band, Bowie, Weller and The Cure, Tower Records will also be running live concerts and in-store acoustic performances throughout the day.
Tower Live, a nine hour festival of live sounds, will take place in the Madison club (next door to Tower on Wicklow Street. Kicking off at 1pm the line-up includes: Owensie, Blink Yackety, Gyspy Rebel Rabble, The Urges, The Hot Sprockets, The Eskies, Sweet Jane, Ghost Estates, Twilight Sad and more. Wristbands for Tower Live can be picked up in-store on the day. There will also be acoustic performances throughout the day in the Wicklow Street store.

As with every Record Store Day, exactly what vinyl will be gracing the Tower shelves won't be known until crates arrive a day or two before. We've been assured however that orders are in for releases by: Nick Cave, The Band, Kate Bush, White Stripes, Elliott Smith, Notorious BIG, James Blake, The Verve, The Flaming Lips, The Beta Band, Dazed And Confused OST, David Bowie, Pulp, Paul Weller, The Cure, Bat for Lashes, Django Django, Frank Zappa, Husker Du, MGMT, REM, Pink Floyd, Sigur Ros and lots more.
Doors will open at Tower Records Wicklow Street and Easons, O'Connell Street from 9am to 7pm. However, Today FM’s Paul McLoone will be giving one lucky person the freedom of Tower's Wicklow Street store for 30 minutes prior to the 9am opening. Tune in all next week, from 9pm to midnight Monday to Thursday on Today FM to be in with a chance.
