Matt Cooper will literally have The Last Word thanks to his programme team and producers who have come up with the idea of daring Matt to write and perform as part of the station's new charity fundraiser, Dare to Care.
Following on from its hugely successful Shave or Dye campaign which raised over €7million for the Irish Cancer Society, Today FM presenters and listeners have committed to taking on all sorts dares to raise much needed funds for cancer services and will continue to do so throughout September.
The announcement was made on Monday's The Last Word with Matt's producer revealing the dare live on the show, justifying the dare by saying: “You love writing, you love music, and you love live gigs...it’s marrying the things that you are good at. I don’t think I’m being unfair here, Matt.”
Commenting on his dare, Matt Cooper said: “Singing is going to be a challenge enough in itself, made worse by performing in front of an audience, but I think I would be far happier if I was doing a well known, popular song. I’m going to get judged on the double and I can only imagine the analysis that’s going to be done of any lyrics I pen. I know the cause is good but the challenge is a bit different to what I expected and more too.”

Within the next week, other Today FM presenters such as Anton Savage, Dermot & Dave, Fergal D’Arcy and Louise Duffy will be forced to reveal what they’re prepared to do for Dare to Care.
