The Ash frontman lends his vocals to ‘Dumb Angel’.
Tim Wheeler makes a guest appearance on A Ghost History, the debut album from Halifax, Nova Scotia noiseniks Kestrels, which is out today on Canadian indie Sonic Unyon, also home to the magnificent Ringo Deathstarr.
Getting Tim to sing on ‘Dumb Angel’ is a personal triumph for singer and guitarist Chad Peck who’s a self-confessed Ash nut.
“I managed to get an imported copy of their debut EP when I was 13 years old and it fundamentally changed how I looked at music,” he explains. “Tim and I became friends and he was happy to play on our record. I rented his Manhattan apartment while he was touring Japan in the summer of 2011 and finished writing and recording most of the vocals on the album at his place.”
Full of what they describe as “satisfying shoegaze soundscapes”, the album can be bought online at [link]www.kestrels.ca[/link].
In the meantime, Ash have announced a June 15 stop-off at the Belfast Oh Yeah Music Centre as part of their 20th birthday celebrations. A limited number of tickets are still available from [link]www.ash-official.com[/link].
There’s also a #Ash20 EP on its way – stay tuned to hotpress.com for details.
