The Thrills start work on new album

Conor and the boys are ready to begin recording the follow up to Let's Bottle Bohemia, and there's a few changes this time around.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 29 May 2006

They already have a title in mind for the album, which frontman Conor Deasy admits is a change from their previous albums. And they've even started consulting with designers on the artwork.

Conor added that the band have about twenty songs to bring to the studio, whereas on their previous albums they had only thirteen or fourteen.

The Thrills had originally planned to record the album in Dublin, but couldn't get the studio they wanted, so are now recording it in Vancouver.

It's not all change though - Tony Hoffer, producer of 'Let's Bottle Bohemia' is back to work with the band on their third album.

Nothing Changes Around Here

So here it finally is: the long-awaited return of The Thrills. In their absence, their legendary status has oddly increased. Unfortunately for them, they’ve also returned to a domestic scene where the bigger Irish bands are on the cusp of something amazing, and the smaller acts are creating a real air of excitement. In this context, more of the same just doesn’t cut it. It’s radio-friendly, sunny and memorable, thanks in part to Conor Deasy’s unique singing and Tony Hoffer’s spot-on production, but they certainly didn’t spend their three years working on a new direction. Here’s hoping that Teenager will prove that something – anything – changes around here.
