Sound Training Online officially launched last night at the college’s headquarters in the Temple Bar Music Centre.
Developer Harry Crosby and legendary producer Pat McCarthy (think U2, R.E.M., Counting Crows and The Waterboys) were on hand to cut the ribbon last night at the official launch event for Sound Training Online, the brand new online education experience from the Sound Training College in Temple Bar.
With support from Enterprise Ireland and a roster of top lecturers on hand, the new chapter in Sound Training’s history is creating a serious buzz. “It’s been an aspiration for years now,” said college Director, Paddy Dunning, at the opening last night. “We run the best courses in Europe, but we wanted to create an online college so people could access that from all over the world.
"Now, we’re launching one of the highest grade courses there is. We want it to be one of the best, if not the best, in the world.”
It’s the first of its kind and the courses on offer span the essential areas of software and production training needed to work at the top level in the industry. It’s not your typical online college experience; as Mr. Dunning explains, interactivity is at the heart of what STC is all about; “We ensure you get a one-to-one experience with a professional,” he says. “There’s accountability and all the way through you’re led by real people.”
